Some designs are made in-house, others come from collaborations with fellow small businesses, but every piece carries her signature touch: simple, meaningful, and made with love.

What makes her brand even more special is her why. A portion of profits from the River & Reid Collection are donated to Project Sweet Peas, a nonprofit that supports NICU and bereaved families. Makenna is also a proud mama of two under four (talk about a full house!). She named her brand after her babies, River & Reid, and started this business as a lifeline while navigating the trenches of postpartum depression and anxiety. What began as a way to find strength and purpose in her own days has now grown into a thriving shop that inspires and encourages others. We love a story where resilience meets creativity.

When it comes to showcasing her designs, Makenna is a big fan of flat lays like those by Trendsetter Flatlays. “They help us tremendously by showing our customers the designs on shirts and with certain colors.” Sometimes, a simple flat lay is all it takes to bring a design to life and help shoppers imagine it as part of their own wardrobe, and Makenna has mastered that.
